How Many Pages Does a Small Business Website Need?
In shortStart with five: Home, About, Services, Proof (portfolio or reviews) and Contact. Add one page per important service as you grow — each service page can rank on its own.
The core five
- Home. What you do, for whom, and the next step. Links to your services.
- About. Your story, credentials and a real photo. People buy from people.
- Services. Clear descriptions and, ideally, prices.
- Proof. Portfolio, case studies, reviews or certificates.
- Contact. Form, email, WhatsApp, map if local, and response time.
When to add more pages
- One page per service once you offer several. “Website design” and “SEO audit” are different searches and deserve separate pages.
- Location pages if you serve several cities — but only with genuinely local content.
- Blog when you can publish useful articles regularly. Each good article can bring visitors and link to your services.
- Policy pages: privacy, payment and refund. Small, but they build trust.
What to avoid
- Empty “coming soon” pages.
- Several thin pages targeting the same keyword.
- Huge pages that try to rank for everything.
