Why Your Store Gets Traffic but No Sales
In shortCheck two things first: is the traffic relevant (right keywords, right country), and is there a surprise at checkout (shipping cost, account required, missing payment method)? Those explain most stores with traffic and no sales.
Traffic problems
- Wrong intent. Ranking for “how to clean leather” brings readers, not buyers. Check which pages actually get the traffic.
- Wrong country. Visitors from regions you don’t ship to will never convert.
- Bot traffic. Spikes from one city or zero-second sessions aren’t people.
Trust problems
- No reviews or social proof on product pages.
- Unclear returns and delivery information. Shoppers look for it before adding to cart.
- No visible contact details. A phone number or WhatsApp button reassures new buyers.
Checkout problems
- Surprise costs. Shipping and tax revealed only on the last step is the top cause of cart abandonment.
- Forced account creation. Offer guest checkout.
- Missing payment methods or a broken checkout. Test your own checkout on a phone every month.
How to find your leak
In GA4, build a simple funnel: product view → add to cart → begin checkout → purchase. The biggest drop shows where to look. Microsoft Clarity (free) adds recordings so you can watch real sessions.
If the drop is before “add to cart”, improve product pages. If it’s during checkout, fix the checkout. Read my landing page conversion checklist for page-level fixes.
My conversion rate audit finds these leaks for you and ranks the fixes by expected impact.
