WooCommerce SEO Checklist for Product and Category Pages

In shortCategory pages win most e-commerce traffic. Give each one a clear keyword target and a short unique intro, then make every product page unique, fast and marked up with product schema.

Category pages

  1. One target keyword per category: “women’s leather sandals”, not “Collection 3”.
  2. A 60–150 word unique intro above or below the products.
  3. Clear H1 matching the search term.
  4. Links to related categories and buying guides.

Product pages

  1. Descriptive titles: brand + product + key attribute.
  2. Unique descriptions. Copying the manufacturer’s text puts you in competition with every other store using it.
  3. Answer real questions: size, material, delivery, returns.
  4. Compressed images with descriptive file names and alt text.
  5. Product schema with price, availability and reviews — WooCommerce adds basic schema; check it in Google’s Rich Results Test.

Store-wide

  1. Control filter URLs — see faceted navigation and duplicate content.
  2. Keep out-of-stock products live if they return; redirect discontinued ones to the closest alternative.
  3. Fix checkout and speed problems — Google ranks pages, but customers buy on the whole store.
